Shomoy News Television (Somoy tv live now) is a 24-hour Bengali television channel in Bangladesh. It is headquartered at 89, Bir Uttam CR Dutta Road, Bangalamotar, Dhaka. It has a broadcast NOC license from the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. After a test broadcast on 10 October 2010, it has gone commercially on-air since 17 April 2011. Somoy tv live now is broadcast using Bangabandhu-1, Bangladesh's first satellite, operated by Bangladesh Communications Satellite Company Limited.
Samaa tv live received government permission for airing in October 2009. It began a test broadcast on 10 October 2010 and was commercially on-air from 17 April 2011.
On 1 January 2014, unknown persons threw a bomb on an official vehicle of Somaya TV, injuring the driver in Chittagong city. Journalists on the network blamed activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic Chhatra Shibir.
