In March, Linden Lab VP of customer relations Cyn Skyberg introduced a policy change that would see Adult-only activities and content in Second Life moved to a separate continent. "The core goals of this initiative are to improve Second Life for everyone -- by giving Residents more control over what they see, and by providing the best available method to make Adult content accessible only to those who ought to (and who desire to) access it," the post said.
Second Life watchers reacted strongly. Web site Massively.com wrote, "this is certainly one of the most -- perhaps the most -- far-reaching and profound set of changes to Second Life since 2003."
The headlines from the mainstream press were predictable: Second Life Cracks Whip on Adult Content, wrote CNET; Second Life Putting A Leash On Sex, said Information Week; Second Life Moves Smutty Stuff to Virtual Pleasure Island, wrote the Linux Insider; and even the AP covered, saying Second Life Gets New 'X-rated' Continent.
Today one of the web's most notorious adult destinations, RedLightCenter.com and its owner Utherverse, checked in with its own response, saying it would open an "embassy" within Second Life to serve as safe house of sorts where those anxious to discuss the new Second Life policy could meet.
Says Utherverse: "The embassy will serve as a forum for discussion about adult content and freedom of speech on the web just weeks after Second Life moved to create additional barriers to entry for adult content within the virtual world … and also serve as a meeting place for members of Second Life who are also part of the RedLightCenter.com network to connect and discuss issues relevant to the virtual world."
RedLightCenter.com co-founder and CEO Brian Shuster elaborated, saying, "The embassy was created for RLC users who utilize both virtual world platforms and who requested a place to connect within Second Life. Because of Second Life’s recent announcement isolating and adding barriers to adult content, the embassy will also serve as a safe haven for Second Life members that would like to discuss their rights regarding adult content."
Utherverse also supports Virtual-Vancouver.com, a music-focused online community. Utherverse is located in Vancouver.
Skyberg has kept the SL community informed of policy, with the most recent update posted just 10 days ago.

Well of course the RLC will want to open a place in SL as they want to try and attract SL users at 20 USD a month to their platform. Yes I know RLC offers free accounts but they are so limited. We as a RL business looked at RLC but the costs and what was on offer was far inferior to SL even though the Adult Changes are coming about.
I know several disillusioned RLC players now in SL and owning sims and even with the changes they agree that SL gives far better playability.
Be sure to check out the SL Independent wiki for upto date info on the changes:
