Israel-based MetaverSense is providing virtual world development services aimed at education and training. The company also offers consulting services for businesses, game developers, and investors as well as developing Web3D spaces for marketing or collaboration. While it only officially launched in November 2008, MetaverSense boasts clients in Israel's gaming industry as well as developing Second Life presences for several higher education institutes and high schools.
"We offer the Israeli educational system [formal and non-formal] our services for using virtual worlds and video games for education, from building learning objects up to building virtual institute presences," explained CEO Dr. Hanan Gazit via email. "In addition, we deliver 'hands on' workshop for using virtual worlds for higher education."
The company also produces various education-related events in Second Life. Linden Lab's virtual world seems to be the main focus currently, but MetaverSense works with other platforms as well. While there's been a backlash against Second Life in the States, according to Gazit, it's still the dominant virtual world in most Israeli's minds.
"In order to enter the Israeli market we use Second Life as a marketing and attention anchor. The public in Israel is unaware of the development and potential of the metaverse, but they [have been] exposed to Second Life on the mass media," he said.
Gazit says that MetaverSense also works with 3DXplorer, Facebook's 3D gaming apps, Active Worlds IMVU, Twinity, and Vivaty and plans to use OpenSim, Multiverse, and HiPiHi in the future.
MetaverSense is privately funded and has received $250,000 from angel investors.
