Huru Humi Launches Huru High
Huru Humi, a Senario toy brand, announced the launch yesterday of its toy-based virtual world, Huru High. The world itself, targerted at 7-to-12-year-olds is free to play, and users can chat, create their own avatars and yearbook profiles and play games together. The toys, small figurines with LCD screen faces, are available for$29.99 at
Target, Walmart, Toys "R" Us, and online, and come with codes to private lockers, virtual currency, and the addition of extra items to purchase and personalize the online avatars.
The toys themselves offer a unique bit of offline interaction. It looks like they'll interact with other Huru Humi toys when put into groups of up to 4, talking to both the toys and their owners. What's not clear to me, and would be a missed opportunity if if it's unavailable, is if the offline interactions tie back in to the virtual world. The Clickables line for Pixie Hollow allows users to exchange virtual goods or user information by touching their toys together and then reconnect in the virtual world. With these toys already meant to encourage offline play, I hope they do something similar, especially with the company's focus on safe onlien interactions.
"Huru High is a perfect complement to the Huru Humi toy," Mike Nakamura, CEO of Senario, said in a statement. "Our first priority in building the virtual world was to provide kids with an enriching online experience while keeping everyone safe and protecting them from harmful or negative content. That's why we filter all communication through white-listed word menus, prevent kids from revealing personal information, and empower parents to monitor their kids' accounts. We also believe it is important to stimulate kids with healthy messages and design activities that will raise awareness about ways to keep ourselves and our communities healthy and happy."

Does anyone know when the Kaylah Huru Humi will be available? My niece wants it for Christmas. Thanks.
