SEE Touring Aims to Take Hollywood to Entropia
SEE Touring Attractions has formed a new division, SEE Virtual Worlds, with a focus on creating up to 50 planets within Entropia Universe based on Hollywood licenses ranging from current movies to catalog properties. Since Mindark's virtual world runs on a cash economy, SEE will be pushing for a virtual goods-based revenue stream. The company has set meetings with the major studios and hopes to announce the first deals within the coming months.
"We're also looking at creating virtual planets around the entertainment icons that are a crossover between public domain and licenses such as Monsters planet that could feature Dracula," SEE Virtual Worlds CEO Martin Biallas told the Hollywood Reporter. "There's no investment from the studios. We come with the funding and Mindark has spent years building their engine so we can get these planets up and running in about nine months."There's also a real revenue stream for virtual merchandising as well as the ability to have users order real-world licensed t-shirts and jackets, for instance, from within the virtual planet."
