Linden Lab to Beta Second Life Behind the Firewall in Q1
Rivers Run Red and Linden Lab announced earlier today that version 2.0 of Immersive Workspaces was available on the Second Life Grid. Also significantly, Rivers noted that they were working with Linden Lab on a solution to host business applications behind the firewall. While IBM has already been testing certain applications, an official solution is on the way.
"In enterprise and education, people are asking for easy sign-up to sign people up in bulk, a safe and secure hosted solution. Despite the many urban myths, it’s possible to hold a secure meeting in our hosted Second Life," said Linden CEO Mark Kingdon in his keynote at Virtual Worlds London. "But people want a solution behind the firewall. We’re working on the alpha now. We have alpha customers signed up. And we’ll have a beta in the first quarter. That's all I'm going to say because this isn't an official announcement, but it's coming. If you're interested in being part of the beta, you can sign up at our booth.”

I'm very anxious to see how this affects the SL solution's providers and the SLDEV group, as i am a member of both. I didnt hear the news from LL through our listserve though, i read the press release. Is anyone else as concerned as I am?
