Home Beta Prepping for U.S. Expansion

Home, the console-based virtual world for Sony's PlayStation 3, may be showing its face to the public soon. At the very least, Sony announced last week an expansion for its closed beta in Japan. And, according to an email I received last night, the Home is gearing up to expand its closed beta to U.S. users as well as the media. After several delays, Sony confirmed in May that Home would definitely be open to the public by the end of 2008. And, as Kotaku points out, if the virtual world is being shown off to the press, it can't be too much longer before everyone else has a chance to get involved as well.  Sadly, I don't own a PlayStation, but it sounds like a large purchase/tax write off may be in my near future.
