ECS Gets $1.4M Contract to Extend Nexus for Army Medical Training
Engineering & Computer Simulations has landed a $1.4 million contract to extend its US-Nexus virtual world to meet Army medical training needs, according to the Orlando Business Journal. Nexus is seeing a fair amount of interest from the government as a training tool: the project began as a National Guard effort, but earlier this year the Department of Homeland Security took an interest in building a virtual classroom in Nexus and then the Guard itself signed a $3.4 million contract to expand the collaborative functions inside of Nexus.
It sounds like the Medical Nexus will be used for similar work Medical using the 3D world as a learning environment with both classroom-based lectures and simulation training.
