The Air Force's MyBase RFI
In February, the Air Force announced an ambitious proposal for MyBase, an end-to-end virtual world and
social network for recruiting, training, and collaboration. Last month Air Education & Training Command issued an RFI, seeking information on building a prototype of around "two AETC courses of instruction using real-time interactive avatars and streaming audio/video presented in an online 3D virtual learning environment known as MyBase (Prototype). The proof-of-concept environment shall be operational 24/7." It looks like the response date has come and passed (on April 29), but it's good to see that the Air Force is moving forward with its grand plans for what could be a truly innovative and exciting approach to virtual worlds. On April 21, the AirForce made a modifiaction to the RFI and Changed the Response Date to May 15, 2008 3:00 pm
