Metaversum Hires Online Marketing and Product Management Heads for Twinity
Metaversum announced today that it had hired Lars Smidt, formerly of German-language dating platform FriendScout24, and Andreas van de Castel, formerly at German social network studiVZ, as the new heads of Online Marketing and Product Managment for the upcoming mirror world Twinity. Smidt will manage online marketing and van de Castel is focusing on design and implementation for new community features.
"Lars Smidt and Andreas van de Castel have many years' experience working in successful internet companies," Dr. Mirko Caspar, CMO of Metaversum, said in a statement. "The focus of Lars Smidt's previous position at FriendScout24 was on the acquisition of new members. He will now be performing this key task for Twinity, as well as promoting communication both with and within the user community. Andreas van de Castel played a decisive role in shaping product development at studiVZ. We are very happy to welcome such capable reinforcements for these key areas."
Metaversum has recently ramped up in its marketing for Twinity, adding a focus on Singapore as the "gateway to Asia." Twinity is still in private beta and representatives today were unavailable to confirm a time line for going public, but when we spoke to EVP of Community & Operations Jeremy Snyder in March, he said he hoped the company would be rolling out something more public by April.
