"We may have some news in the next few weeks," Philip Rosedale, current CEO of Linden Lab, told Reuters last week about his search for a replacement. He wouldn't say whether the maker of Second Life was looking internally or externally, but, as he explained to Virtual Worlds News, leadership is more important than software experience. Rosedale also explained that the company is looking towards the end of this PC hardware cycle for more mainstream adoption: "When we started the company in 1999, it was obvious that broadband would become widespread and at the same time Nvidia released its GeForce2 (graphics chip)," he said. "What we didn't anticipate was Wi-Fi and the rise of laptops, which couldn't do 3D." [via Reuters]
