GoFish Corporation launched its youth-oriented advertising network in February, aimed at bringing together a host of small-to-medium-sized kids sites (aimed at the 6-17 demo) to present a more attractive property for media buyers. At its launch, it included virtual worlds properties like Whyville, Cookie Jar Entertainment (which sent Magi-Nation live today), and ROCKETON and reached 17.4 million users. With the addition of non-virtual worlds properties like Fact Monster today, GoFish now claims a reach of 19 million unique users per month. There was definitely a gap of partnerships like this in the youth virtual worlds market. Virtual worlds have always touted their immersion and engagement over the smaller numbers, but a lack of partnerships forced worlds to sell their metrics on their own merit. With recent deals between Double Fusion and Habbo Hotel as well as Doppelganger, though, the space is sure to begin to look a lot more attractive to advertisers.
