Forterra Optimistic About Babel Bridge and IBM
We reported last night that IBM had been suspended for creating new contracts with Federal agencies due to allegations of improper dealings in an EPA contract. It isn't clear if that will slow IBM's work with Forterra to create a Unified Communications and Collaboration platform, codenamed Babel Bridge, for the U.S. Intelligence community, but Forterra is optimistic: "My colleagues at IBM have not responded yet to my inquiry to them about what this means," Forterra VP of Marketing Chris Badger said via email. "However I can imagine this is a big embarrassment for IBM and they are feverishly addressing the issue. I really don't see this near term hiccup of IBM's relationship within one part of the government affecting our Babel Bridge project which is with a different part of the government. Many of the intelligence agencies are large users of IBM software so I am sure they are equally anxious to have this issue cleared up quickly."
