realXtend joins OpenSim
I missed this while I was traveling to the Metaverse Roadmap, but Finnish developers realXtend have joined the OpenSim project. realXtend is already a product of a partnership between two companies, ADMINO technologies, which is focused on developing virtual world server solutions, and LudoCraft, a game studio focusing on collaborative multiplayer 3D games and simulations. Their goal now with OpenSim, an open-source virtual world, is to produce "the next generation of virtual reality development by focusing on interoperability technologies, usability and real-life application support," bringing along experience in network support and 3D development as well as newly improved graphics and integrated voice chat.
"I welcome the realXtend project to join us. It is my pleasure to see that the OpenSim gets a huge professional code contribution. The future of the OpenSim project looks bright as the developer base continues to grow with giant leaps like this", OpenSim core developer Michael Wright said in a statement.
realXtend has contribubuted all of its OpenSim server-side code and will continue to add its development in that direction.
"I see this as a great possibility to quickly make OpenSim the global de facto standard and to significantly speed up the global technology development in this area," said realXtend project manager Jani Pirkola. "Our common goal is to create the best open source virtual world server platform, and to continue the rapid evolution of OpenSim."

Great !!!
We strongly believe in OpenSim becoming the Web 3D Apache and focus our activities on building VR applications and VR gaming systems with it.
RealXtend joining the OpenSim project ensures that the open source OpenSim will become the industry standard, get all the modern features and stays open source.
