Square Enix Creating Virtual World to Market Games

Square Enix, the company behind the Final Fantasy and Dragon's Quest franchises, is releasing its own virtual world in an alpha version next week to help promote its upcoming titles. The world, announced in the company website's members-only, looks like it will feature customizable avatars, trailers for upcoming products, and socializing. The rest, and there may be more, is beyond Google's translation, but it looks like the first area of the world will be based on the upcoming Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon. [via NeoGaf forums]
