Media Groove Launches Mobile World for Japanese Girls
With several platforms on the table already, the Japanese mobile virtual worlds market is starting to feel like the kids world market here. But Media Groove is not one to be left out. Chipuya Town is a animed-up version of Tokyo's Shibuya shopping district, where users can socialize, earn Grooves, and shop for furniture and clothing. Cars and pets will debut in 2008.
The mobile world debuted back in September with a beta, and it runs entirely in Flash. It looks like the world is free to play, though users earn Grooves by clicking on ads--which can go for up to $4,000/month. Companies also have the option to set up stores in-world, starting at around $8,000/month.
It looks like the world also has a user-generated content function. Users can snap a shot with their mobile camera and then use a built-in Flash editing tool to build their own t-shirts.
