110k Users on Habbo's Mobile Virtual World
Yesterday we reported that the Yankee Group had released a research report saying that Second Life and other virtual worlds were too PC-centric to be adequate for today's marketing needs to reach "anywhere consumers." In a Guardian story today on "Why Habbo Hotel held back on a mobile version," Sulake CEO Timo Soininen said that data costs and dissatisfaction with the experience on current technology had restrained the company. "That is changing rapidly now," he said. "We also have recently launched what I think is one of the few virtual mobile worlds out there, called minifriday.com, and we have around 110,000 registered users in it already. Check it out. It's pretty cool. We will probably use the technology for another couple of projects." [via The Guardian]
