Sony Home Delayed to Spring of 2008

There was a brief, quickly denied rumor that Sony would be launching Home this October, but it turns out the denials weren't just an attempt to keep fans speculating. Sony Computer Entertainment President and Group COO Kaz Hirai announced a delay until Spring 2008 during his keynote at the Tokyo Game Show. "I'm sorry about the delay, but since we want this to be a worldwide service -- our territories all have their own wishes for it -- it's taking a bit longer for us to develop. We want Home to be satisfactory to all types of users around the world, so we decided to delay it," said Hirai.

The delay will give Sony to add a new feature, Dress: Everybody's Fashion Entertainment, that apparently has been requested by users in the Alpha test. Hirai said the main reason for the delay was to continue to meet the requests of users and develop the platform.

"We want this to be a worldwide service and at the same time we want to be sure we have functionality" for all territories. "We want to be sure we have a range of services for our users all over the world -- that's how we want to start the service. So we decided to delay the service launch date."
