Multiverse Goes Version 1.0, Releases Four "Worlds in Progress"

The Mulitverse Network, Inc., released version 1.0 of the Multiverse Platform today. Throughout its beta phase, the free software that allows developers to build custom worlds for games, social purposes, or business applications, has attracted 11,000 development teams. Multiverse allows developers to work with the software for free and brings in revenue by collecting 10 percent of the gross revenue from commercial applications. Additionally, the company launched "Worlds in Progress," a collection of four prototype worlds available through the free Multiverse World Browser: Dark Horizons Universe by Max Gaming Technologies, Forgotten Legends by Doomsberg Entertainment, the Multiverse Social World, and the Multiverse Fantasy World. The last two are simple demos, though, and Multiverse says it has no plans to further develop them.

Company Also Unveils 'Worlds in Progress,' Playable Prototypes of Virtual
Worlds Ranging From Science Fiction to Fantasy MMOGs to Social Worlds

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Multiverse Network,
Inc., the company building the leading network of massively multiplayer
online games (MMOGs) and 3D virtual worlds, today released version 1.0 of
the Multiverse Platform, a comprehensive software solution that gives
development teams the technology, tools and assets to create virtual worlds
for almost any purpose, including games and business tools. Previously
available in beta, the Multiverse Platform has attracted over 11,000
development teams from around the world.
Multiverse is committed to the notion that virtual worlds represent a
new medium that will enable many unique applications.
"We're passionate about empowering our customers to create the next
wave of online experiences," said Bill Turpin, co-founder and CEO, The
Multiverse Network, Inc. "By providing our technology without upfront fees
and eliminating many technical barriers, we've made virtual world
development faster and less expensive than ever before."
In addition, the company also launched its "Worlds in Progress"
initiative. Comprised of early prototype games and worlds built on the
Multiverse Platform, this initiative provides consumer access to the
Multiverse Network. All four games and worlds launched today are available
through the Multiverse Network for consumers to experience via the free,
downloadable Multiverse World Browser that lets consumers easily access any
game or world on the company's network.
Dark Horizons Universe by Max Gaming Technologies
Of the Worlds in Progress launched today, Max Gaming Technologies' Dark
Horizons Universe, is the network's featured MMOG. Built by an established
independent game studio with several published titles, Max Gaming chose
Multiverse because of the flexibility the platform allowed.
"After reviewing several platforms, we selected Multiverse because of
their commitment to providing bullet-proof technology, and their shared
vision for what the future of online entertainment will look like," said
Adrian Wright, CEO, Max Gaming Technologies. "More importantly, Multiverse
has played an invaluable role in helping us take our game concepts to the
next level."
In addition to Dark Horizons, Multiverse also launched the following
prototype MMOGs today:
    Forgotten Legends by Doomsberg Entertainment
Doomsberg Entertainment is a young and energetic team of
gamers-turned-game-creators who met through the Multiverse developer
community. Their next-generation fantasy world includes a skill- and
power-based leveling system that will enable players to improve their
characters through a wide range of innovative game play, without the need
to "grind."
    Multiverse Sample Worlds
As part of the "Worlds in Progress" initiative, Multiverse also
launched two sample worlds today. The Multiverse Social World provides a
basic environment for people to chat and dance, and the Multiverse Fantasy
World puts players into a basic MMOG-style game. Included with the
Multiverse Platform, development teams receive the complete source code for
both worlds, which they can learn from or modify, if they want a starting
point for their individual projects. At this time, Multiverse has no plans
to continue developing either world beyond their current state.
    COMING SOON
Force of Arms by Wardog Studios
With the Multiverse Platform, this team of dedicated and talented
developers, with non-traditional game design backgrounds, is now able to
realize their dream of entering the video game industry. Force of Arms,
which uses the award-winning Hero System(TM) role-playing system, is a
futuristic mech-based game that includes innovative use of mixed media.
    LunarQuest by RETRO Laboratory
LunarQuest is as an MMOG that puts players in a large, persistent
multiplayer game world set on the Earth's moon. In LunarQuest, players act
as Lunar Colonization Authority (LCA) cadets, who are tasked with preparing
the moon for colonization.
Multiverse expects production-quality versions of these worlds to
become available on the Multiverse Network in late 2007 or early 2008. The
company will continue to launch new prototype games and worlds as they
become available.
    The Multiverse Network, Inc.
The Multiverse Network, Inc. is creating a network of online video
games and other 3D virtual worlds. Its unique technology platform is
changing the economics of this medium by empowering development teams to
create high-quality, Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) and
non-game virtual worlds for less money and in less time than ever before.
Multiverse solves the industry's prohibitive challenges by providing
development teams with a comprehensive, pre-coded client-server
infrastructure and tools, a wide range of free content -- including sample
worlds for modification -- and a built-in market of consumers. The
Multiverse Network gives consumers a single program -- the Multiverse World
Browser -- that lets them play all of the MMOGs and visit all of the
non-game virtual worlds built on the Multiverse Platform.
