Habbo Launches Traxmachine
Habbo announced today that it would bring music for the first time into its virtual world. Traxmachine, a simple-to-use virtual studio soundboard allowing users to create customized beats, lets users lay up to four unique beats on top of each other to create mixes up to five minutes long. Each user may download one Traxmachine for free, although it sells for five credits in the UK version, and additional Traxmachines and packs of beats sell for $1, they told us. Users may then trade their Traxmachine along with the mix it holds, but they may not be sold. Habbo plans to host DJ contests in the next few weeks, judged by celebrity DJs, but no other product tie-ins have been planned yet.
Music Invades the Online Virtual Community of Habbo
Sound Comes to Habbo with the Launch of the Traxmachine
Los Angeles, CA
(June 20, 2007) – Calling all bedroom DJs, online
mixers and Internet mashers. Habbo, one of the
world’s largest social networking sites, announced today the introduction
of music in the leading virtual world for teenagers with the launch of the Traxmachine,
an online music mixing tool.
Available
now on Habbo (www.habbo.com) for free, the
Traxmachine functions similar to a virtual studio soundboard. Simple to use and
designed to enable users to build their own customized beats, the Traxmachine brings
music inside the Habbo community for the first time.
The
Traxmachine lets users lay up to four unique sound samples on top of each other
to create one distinct music mix. Each user-generated song can be tailored up
to five minutes in length and played back on a continuous loop.
“Habbo
is known as an environment for teens to be creative. One of the best ways to
demonstrate self-expression is through music,” said Mateo Gutierrez,
director of marketing for Habbo North America. “We want to help nurture the
individuality of our community – the Traxmachine gives Habbo users an
interactive music mixing tool to enjoy, impress their friends and maybe learn
to be the next big producer.”
The
Traxmachine allows Habbos to arrange mixes from rock to hip-hop, to electro to
punk. Nine distinctively different ‘Traxpacks’ of samples and
sounds including ‘party’, ‘sound effects’ and
‘chill out’ will be available. Habbos can use the Traxmachine to create
theme music for their virtual rooms, host online house parties or make a
soundtrack to their virtual lives.
